MOQ, Lead Time and Incoterms® for Electrical Products from Türkiye

Plan an electrical products import from Türkiye by defining MOQ, production lead time, packing and the correct Incoterms® 2020 rule.

01

MOQ can exist at three levels

Minimum order quantity may refer to a product reference, a factory carton or the total commercial order. A supplier can accept a mixed shipment while still requiring full cartons per size. Custom colour, label or packaging can create a separate production MOQ.

Ask for MOQ in the same unit you use for demand planning: metres, pieces, cartons and total order value where applicable. This prevents a buyer from mistaking a low per-item MOQ for permission to order incomplete export cartons.

  • Reference MOQ
  • Full-carton quantity
  • Total mixed-order requirement
  • Custom colour or private-label MOQ
02

Lead time starts after the order is ready

A quoted production lead time normally assumes that the proforma is approved, payment or credit conditions are satisfied, artwork and specifications are final, and materials are available. Days spent revising labels or quantities are commercial preparation, not factory production.

Separate stock availability, production time, packing time, export documentation and transport transit in the schedule. Add a decision date for the buyer so the required delivery date can be assessed honestly.

03

Choose an Incoterms® rule by responsibility

Incoterms® 2020 contains eleven trade rules that allocate defined delivery obligations, costs and risks between buyer and seller. They do not replace the sales contract, payment terms, product specification or transfer of title. Always write the named place and version, for example FCA [named place], Incoterms® 2020.

EXW, FCA and DAP are often discussed for road shipments, while FOB is a sea and inland-waterway rule. The right choice depends on who controls export clearance, main carriage, insurance and import formalities. Buyers should review the selected rule with their logistics and trade advisers.

  • Name the exact place or point
  • State Incoterms® 2020
  • Align transport, customs and insurance responsibilities
  • Do not use a trade rule as a complete contract
04

Send an RFQ that can be answered once

Include the legal company, destination, product codes, quantities, requested documents, target date and preferred trade rule. Ask the supplier to show carton rounding, lead time basis, offer validity and packing assumptions on the proforma.

FRAME's online list captures the product side of the enquiry. The export team then confirms commercial conditions according to the actual destination and quantity.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers for purchasing teams

Is MOQ the same as one carton?

Not always. MOQ can apply by reference, carton, total order, custom colour or private label. Ask the supplier to state each level.

Do Incoterms® rules define payment terms?

No. They allocate specific delivery obligations, costs and risks; payment, title and product requirements belong in the wider sales agreement.
